it’s funny that the things your parents tell you as you grow up are completely neglected until you experience it yourself. they give you tips that help you, but you just don’t want to believe it. Finally, you get that first-hand perspective and you realize it. they were there once and don’t want you to go through consequences, such as a possible pain or suffering. a thought that reoccurs in my mind is something my parents have told me. friends are temporary, acquaintances are made of many. sad, but true… the only thing they forgot to mention is that family is not only blood. family is found in a  sense of belonging in the mind and heart of another. family are the ones that keep you grounded, whether they are hurtfully honest or unconditionally supportive. it doesn’t matter; all that matters is that they’re there with you enduring life as it comes. i’m thankful for those who i consider family.
